Despite being a significant producer of synthetic materials for plastics, ExxonMobil reportedly misled consumers into believing that all plastics are recyclable, including their recent push for advanced or chemical recycling methods. However, current estimates reveal a grim reality: only about 9% of plastics produced globally are recycled, with the U.S. recycling rate hovering around a mere 5-6%.
